Venice, Italy

If you go to Italy, you have to see Venice.  It's just one of those rules.  The fact is (and I'll probably be hunted down for this) it's not all that neat a place.  The cool part about Venice is what everybody already knows.  There aren't any cars aloud.  All travel is done on foot or by boat.  The parking lots are quite literally stakes in the water to moor your boat up.  There are a lot of shops along the beaten tourist paths, but if you get off the path, it's just another city with narrow walkways.  The waterways, however, are very cool.  The best thing to do is take the public "bus" (a boat) down the main canal and see San Marco Plaza.  Then do some shopping, since you will have seen everything worth seeing.
