The Europe Years (1999 - 2005)

Salzburg, Austria

We went to Salzburg, Austria literally on the first day we were in Germany. This is the place made famous by "The Sound of Music" and by being the birthplace of Mozart. We went to the Helbrun Pleasure Palace, which is an old estate of an eccentric man (Archbishop Marcus Sitticus). He was known for playing practical jokes on his visitors, and the "Mechanical Theater" which was 113 figures set in motion by the clockwork movement powered by water to the music of an organ. Really, it was pretty cool.
